A Laggard Breaks Out In A Leading Industry Group

The investment services group ($DJUSSB) has been one of the best-performing groups of 2025, ranking 16th year-to-date out of over 100 industry groups.

Unfortunately, not all stocks within the industry group exhibit strength at the same time.

One stock that has lagged its investment services peers since November 2024 is Victory Capital Holdings, Inc. (VCTR). After beating quarterly revenue estimates by roughly 5% and EPS estimates by nearly 10%, though, VCTR is now trading at a 3-month relative high vs. its investment services peers:

Enter Victory Capital Holdings, Inc. (VCTR):

VCTR had attempted to close above 71.50 on 6 previous attempts, before finally succeeding on Tuesday. Volume (blue arrow) was above average on the breakout and relative strength ended at its highest level since the 2nd week of May.

It's difficult to lead your peers when you haven't broken out, but now that VCTR has done so, I expect to see increasing leadership and higher prices ahead.

Happy Trading!
