Defense Industry Shines
The defense industry ($DJUSDN) has been hot. Over the past three months, it's been one of the top 10 industry groups in terms of performance. It's broken a relative downtrend as Wall Street began pouring money into the group. They began sensing that companies in this space would deliver blowout results and we've been seeing it. Just over the past week or so, Northrop Grumman (NOC), Lockheed Martin (LMT), and Raytheon (RTN) all posted quarterly results ahead of expectations. My favorite stock in the group, Kratos Defense & Security Solutions (KTOS), is likely to post blowout results. We have seen accumulation since May, when KTOS was added to my Aggressive Portfolio. Since that time, KTOS is one of five Aggressive Portfolio stocks that has gained at least 20%. There's a reason for it and we're likely to find out that reason when KTOS reports its results in a couple weeks. Here's a current look at the chart:
The relative strength is off the charts, no pun intended. Every quarter we find gems like KTOS. Tonight, during the Q2 Earnings webinar, I plan to discuss my strategies in developing my 3 portfolios. In addition, I'll give you a sneak preview into several of the best Q2 earnings reports that have been released thus far. I'm already zeroing in on a few beauts! We still have 3 weeks until the August 19th "Top 10 Picks" webinar when my latest stock selections for each portfolio will be announced. But that doesn't mean we can't be trading companies right now that are being accumulated and demonstrating excellent relative strength.
