EB Watch List Update Report
Dear Members:
MARKET UPDATE
We're through the long Labor Day weekend with the market getting off to a sour start as we begin a shortened trading week. Developments over the past few days have put the market on high alert with the VIX up over 20% and back above all key technical levels as volatility perks up and traders show some concern. Gold is up sharply with government bond yields falling with the ten year Treasury Note now at 2.08%, a level not touched since last November and as investors move towards safety. The bulls will point out that both the NASDAQ and S&P remain above all key technical levels. However, the same cannot be said of the Dow which has moved back below its 20 day. So as usual, the tech sector is easily outshining blue chip stocks. September has a reputation of being rough on stocks so perhaps traders are remembering that this morning. But the bulls have shown resilience of late so might we see buying on the dip? We can't rule it out and should keep an eye on the S&P to see if the bulls can hold its 20 and 50 day moving averages, 2455 and 2453, respectively, if the selling picks up. And as long as the bulls hold the line at those key technical levels they should be respected. However, a move below those levels could result in additional selling.
