EB Watch List Update Report

Dear Members: MARKET UPDATE Today is a blue chip day with the Dow up nicely while the NASDAQ and S&P have given up earlier gains. The move higher this morning comes on the heels of strong earnings from CAT, GM, MMM and UTX, thus boosting the Dow. And since the Dow was very extended yesterday it is even more extended today. In spite of the strong move in the Dow the VIX is now back above both its 20 and 50 day moving averages. So maybe traders are beginning to believe the market has gotten a bit ahead of itself. The earnings parade will continue tonight with some visible companies like AMD, T, JNPR and TXN set to report their numbers after the bell. The NASDAQ briefly touched 6600 this morning before retreating as traders show less interest in the tech sector. Perhaps they are waiting to see how some of the tech giants look once they report their numbers. Not much has changed; we'll lay low for another day and wait for more companies to report their numbers with some of these likely to be added to our Candidate Tracker.
