EB Watch List Update Report
Dear Members:
MARKET UPDATE
The first three weeks of October were all about blue chip stocks. The past week has been all about tech stocks with the NASDAQ hitting another all time high. This rotation shows that once traders feel like a sector or index is overbought they are willing to look into other areas. So instead of getting out of the market traders are committing capital to whatever sectors look like they have additional upside potential. Volatility continues with the VIX now back below all key technical levels. This ahead of the Fed rate announcement, naming of a new Fed chair, clarification of tax reform, ending of a quarter and then the monthly jobs report on Friday. Toss in Apple reporting and we can see why we're likely to see a pick up in volatility as the week progresses. Though the Dow and S&P have stalled that's not such a bad thing. They were overbought , especially the Dow, so even some consolidation helps to relieve those overbought conditions. Without question the primary reason the market remains strong is because of strong earnings, especially from some of the tech giants. So for the moment there's no reason to believe there will be a major pullback UNLESS something develops that catches the market off guard. Then all bets are off. But for now we have to continue to give the bulls the benefit of the doubt here; they have total control of the market and must be respected.
