EB Watch List Update Report

John Hopkins -
Dear Members: Market Update: The bulls are making another statement today with a nice follow through after yesterday's nice showing to start the year and with all of the major indexes logging new highs. Confidence is high as well with the VIX down almost 6% and as it once again gets close to dipping back into the 8's. At this moment investors see the market as a good place to deploy capital with more favorable tax rates for corporations and expectations that earnings will once again be strong when companies begin reporting their numbers in the next few weeks. Now that the S&P has cracked 2700 what might be next? There's really no telling; it's never been at this level before. But if buying interest remains high a reasonable next target could be in the range of 2750. A few things remain the same as they were in 2017. First, don't even bother trying to short the market; that's an exercise in futility. Next, stay focused on those companies that posted strong numbers and have pulled back to high reward to risk levels. It was a winning formula last year and it should be the same this year.
