EB Watch List Update Report
Dear Members:
Market Update:
On the one hand, traders are seeing red today and thinking the market is in trouble. On the other hand, we just had 3 days of buying after holding a key technical level so the bulls will argue its been 3 steps forward and 1 step back. Whatever the case, volatility remains at elevated levels as the market tries to find its footing. If there's one thing that could move the market out of the doldrums it would be a string of strong earnings as all of the current distractions would take a back seat to strong numbers. And guess what? Earnings season kicks in next week and will continue for another 3-4 weeks so traders are going to get a first hand look at the shape of Corporate America. So far today the S&P got as low as 2623 after getting as high as 2672 yesterday when it failed to clear its 20 day moving average. The 200 day on the S&P is now at 2593. So the S&P is trading between the 200 day to the downside and 2672 to the upside. The bulls have managed to hold at the 200 day multiple times recently and with earnings around the corner are going to do everything possible to hold that level in the near term as a close below that level could spell more trouble.
