EB Watch List Update Report

Dear Members: Market Update: Volatility continues to rule the market with all of the major indexes lower but well off session lows. The VIX is higher by over 3% but off the highs of the session as traders turn to bargain hunting after the recent selling. One thing catching my attention today is the 10 year Treasury Note which is now over 3%. It's showing that the yield is stretched with stochastics in the mid 90's and a RSI over 70. This doesn't mean yields can't continue to rise but it does show they've risen perhaps more quickly than can be sustained in the near term without some type of pullback. One of the more fascinating developments so far this earnings season are stocks getting slammed even when earnings are strong. This is much different than traders were expecting but may indeed prove to be great buying opportunities once things settle down. The earnings parade will continue this week with some very visible companies about to report including Facebook tonight and Amazon, Intel and Microsoft tomorrow. Given the scrutiny FB has been under lately the response to their earnings could help determine the near term direction of the market. The S&P got to within a few points of its 200 day moving average, currently at 2608, before bouncing right on cue. So clearly that is key support as a move below that level could spell more trouble.To the upside the bulls have a lot of work to do to have any shot at regaining momentum. But first things first; let's see if the market can hold here and better yet, show some gains into the close.
