EB Watch List Update Report

John Hopkins -
Dear Members: Market Update: Those who like volatility love the action today with the NASDAQ shaving off 100 points from its high to the low of the session after Amazon hit an all time high and then pulling back some after yesterday's giant earnings report. Interestingly the VIX is flat, showing traders are shrugging off the selling from this morning. The S&P is fairly flat as well and has so far held its 20 day moving average. Bond yields have cooled some after the yield on the 10 year treasury note had moved above 3% earlier in the week. You might recall that I pointed out it had gotten too stretched technically and since then it has pulled back some. Without question we've seen some of the most visible, large market cap companies report very solid earnings reports. So on the one hand it's a bit disappointing the market continues to struggle but on the other hand the market immediately turns to "what have you done for me lately?" The bulls continue to be behind the eight ball; they haven't been able to regain the technical advantage they need to power the market higher. But with the strong earnings we're seeing it's tough for the bears to administer a knockout punch. This just happens to be the trading environment we are in for now, somewhat of a no-man's land but could be a lot worse. All of this to say we need to continue to be very selective. We've only got two active alerts right now, one that's doing fairly well and one that's pretty flat from the original alert notice; sort of like the market, so-so. BRIEF COMMENTS ON WATCH LIST STOCKS SHORTS: None at this time LONGS: Large Cap Watch List SQ - Stock is higher by 2.6% and a close above the 20 day moving average, currently at $48.51, would be bullish. SNAP - Stock has pulled back to its original entry level. A close back above the 20 day moving average, currently at $15.17 would be very bullish. PLEASE NOTE: I learned that SNAP will be reporting earnings next Tuesday, April 1 so we will move to the sidelines prior to the report. Will keep you posted.
