EB Watch List Update Report

John Hopkins -
Dear Members: Market Update: I'll say this for the bulls; they're certainly in love with large market cap tech stocks with the NASDAQ at a level not seen in a few months. In fact there have only been a few times where the NASDAQ has been as high as it is at the moment. On the flip side of the coin the Dow and S&P are having a difficult time gaining any traction, especially the blue chip Dow which is trying to clear its 20 day moving average while tech stocks are flying. To put things in perspective the NASDAQ is one more day like today away from reaching its all time high while the S&P remains 5% below its all time high. So if you happen to be long stocks like Amazon, Apple, Facebook and Netflix you're feeling good but many other stocks? Not so good. In looking at the NASDAQ there could be strong resistance soon. And if the NASDAQ stalls it's hard to see non-tech related stocks taking the lead. In fact the S&P remains range bound; 2700 to the downside (exact level touched yesterday before bouncing) and 2742 to the upside (unable to get to that level today so far today.) I would start feeling better if the S&P finally cleared that 2742 level as it could clear a path to 2800. Until that happens I think it will continue to be difficult for stocks to hold short lived gains.
