EB Watch List Update Report
Dear Members:
Market Update:
The 2742 level on the S&P has been tough to crack for the bulls and we're seeing again today that the bears are doing their best to make sure that remains the case with all of the major indexes higher but well off session highs as we begin a new trading day and week. Though the Dow and S&P are higher today they continue to lag the NASDAQ which got within about 10 points of hitting 7600 for the first time since mid March. The continuing struggle for the Dow and S&P to make any progress points out that traders remain reluctant to go "all in" here. In fact much of the emphasis in buying of late has been concentrated in large cap tech stocks as well as small cap stocks. The good news for the bulls is they are at least in a position to make some more progress here and often it takes several attempts to clear a key level of resistance. So one way to think of it is even though the S&P hasn't made much progress the bears have been unable to take control of the market. The S&P did get as high as 2749 today so that is now the new level of resistance and a close above that level puts 2763 in sight. To the downside the bulls will be looking to hold the 20 day, currently at 2712, on any selling.
