EB Watch List Update Report

John Hopkins -
Dear Members: Market Update: The market started out with great promise this morning with all of the major indexes moving up nicely. Since then the momentum has stalled some with a lot of the early gains now lost. What we're seeing is pretty much in sync with the market action of late as traders continue to err on the side of caution but aren't quite ready to throw in the towel which I attribute to being willing to give the market another few weeks until a bunch of earnings results are released. The VIX is actually down a few percent but remains above all key technical levels. In other words traders are prepared to sell into strength until further notice. Tomorrow comes the monthly jobs report which historically has been a market mover. But at current levels of unemployment it seems like there would have to be a major surprise from expectations to move the market in a meaningful way. The continuous back and forth of late calls for prudence; no need to put too much capital at risk here. That might change if overall corporate earnings start to come out strong but until then we'll try to avoid unnecessary risks.
