EB Watch List Update Report

John Hopkins -
Dear Members: Market Update: An interesting day today on the heel of a strong GDP report and a positive response to Amazon's earnings yet the NASDAQ and S&P are lower. Though AMZN is at a record high it has cooled some and is being offset by big declines in Intel and Twitter, down 8% and 18%, respectively. The decline in the NASDAQ comes just two days after setting a record high; really not that far off from getting to 8000. But the NASDAQ had gotten stretched so some selling is not a bad thing. The VIX has perked up some but it still remains below all key technical levels showing that the bit of selling we are seeing today hasn't really scarred off serious buyers. The S&P tried to challenge Wednesday's high of 2848 before pulling back some. So perhaps clearing that level will take some more work with the bears knowing that if it is cleared that the all time high would be in sight. We're deep into earnings season now and so far traders seem to be pleased, even with some very visible names like Facebook getting hammered on their earnings. So it goes to show that the overall market can remain strong if enough companies beat earnings expectations. There are still plenty of companies remaining to report their numbers including the largest market cap company in the world - Apple - who will reveal their earnings after the bell on Tuesday. So traders are likely going to continue to give the benefit of the doubt to the bulls in the very near term.
