EB Watch List Update Report

Dear Members: Market Update: It's interesting what a difference a few days in the market can make. Just last week the NASDAQ was the undisputed King of the Hill having reached an all time high. Now all of the sudden blue chips are back in vogue with the Dow and S&P above all key technical levels while tech stocks sag with the NASDAQ has moved below both its 20 and 50 day moving averages. This sudden shift can be traced to a few stocks; Netflix and Facebook, especially FB which lost 20% of its value after its recent earnings report. And even AMZN which hit a new all time high after its earnings report last week was almost 100 points lower today before a mild bounce. The week could get even more interesting as Apple gets set to report its earnings after the bell Tuesday and for certain the market reaction could help dictate if the selling intensifies or steadies. Even though tech stocks have lost some of their luster it shouldn't be assumed they can't bounce back. In fact one could argue that the test today of the 50 day moving average is a good place to consider nibbling. But it also makes sense to see what happens into the close; does the bleeding stop or does selling pick up as the day progresses? The VIX is higher by over 6% today as traders assess the near term; nerves are being tested a bit today but so far nothing alarming. The bulls are going to try to hold the line on the S&P above 2800 with the 20 day sitting at 2797. Should that level go then the 50 day, currently just below 2765, could come into play. To the upside 2848 could be formidable resistance.
