EB Watch List Update Report

Dear Members: Market Update: Apple came through with flying colors after the bell last night as it beat earnings expectations with the stock higher by 4% this morning as it tries to light a fire in the NASDAQ and just as we begin a new trading month. So far its working as tech stocks try to recover after the recent beat down. Even as the NASDAQ fell recently the VIX held where it needed to and it is now back below all key technical levels as AAPL did exactly what it needed to. So far the Dow and S&P are holding fine as they remain above all key technical levels and as blue chip and non-tech related companies finally get some love. Later today we'll hear from the Fed with no one expecting any rate hikes; that's likely to come next month. But traders are always interested in hearing what the Fed has to say when they meet. We're now even further into earnings season so traders have a very good idea of overall performance which has in fact shown a shift in interest from the tech side to financials and away from some of the high flyers. So far the S&P has held that 2800 level with the bulls hoping to take another shot at the recent high of 2848. That's going to take some work; earnings season will soon be in the rear view mirror and traders will be asking "what's next." So we could see some consolidation for a while. In the meantime the range in the S&P is now 2848 to the upside and 2800 to the downside and whichever one goes first could help determine the near term direction of the market.
