EB Watch List Update Report
Dear Members:
Market Update:
Going back to April of this year when the market put in a bottom, any dips were seen as opportunities to jump in on the long side. The question now is will that trend continue as we begin a new trading day and week. One thing different in the current market environment is that some key tech stocks have fallen out of favor which has made it more difficult for the NASDAQ to gain traction. However, we do need to keep things in perspective, remembering that the NASDAQ hit a record high just over a week ago. But it is showing some signs of fatigue, getting a bit of relief today after 4 days of solid selling. In some ways the market is in a period of "no-man's land." The key jobs report is out of the way, the next earnings season is a month away and we're in a month that has historically been rough on traders. So it's hard to make a big case to get aggressively long. On the other hand we did see both the NASDAQ and S&P touch record highs as the month of August came to a close so it's not like the market has fallen off a cliff. The bottom line is the market got ahead of itself some and some profit taking was necessary which is exactly what has taken place. And until the bears are able to take full control of the action, which they've been unable to do for a long time now, the bulls continue to get the nod.
