EB Watch List Update Report

John Hopkins -
Dear Members: Market Update: The market remains rocky here with blue chips leading the move lower today while the NASDAQ is trying to steady itself after the recent bout of selling. The VIX is up slightly but well off Friday's high as traders begin to wonder if this might be a decent time to start nibbling on beaten down stocks. Though the NASDAQ is perking up some today it still has the most work to do to get back on track. And, for the first time in five months, the 20 day is threatening to move below the 50 day, generally a bearish signal, unless the bulls are able to regain momentum and stop the selling. We need to remember that earnings season will kick off this Friday with four major banks reporting their numbers. That will be followed by weeks of earnings reports by thousands of companies. And as usual, the overall results will determine the direction of the market. Is there any good news for the bulls here? Yes in that two of the three major indexes are holding up fairly well, especially the Dow. And if the S&P can get back above 2900 that might help the overall market as well, including tech stocks.
