Market Update The morning started out with some promise, especially on Boeing's earnings which took the Dow higher. Now the early market gains have evaporated with all of the major indexes sharply lower. The bulls had hoped that yesterday's reversal at important support on the S&P would do the trick and the worst of the selling would be over. That may turn out to be the case but traders aren't taking any chances here. The VIX continues to show enough fear to keep a lot of traders on the sidelines. We saw the S&P get as low as 2691 yesterday, almost matching to the penny the June 28 low with some hoping that would satisfy the bears. So we know that is now a key level that must be defended or we could see the market move even lower. To the upside the bulls need they know to close the S&P back above its 200 day, currently at 2768, to have any shot at regaining control of the market. Time to stay defensive here. BRIEF COMMENTS ON WATCH LIST STOCKS SHORTS: None LONGS: Large Cap Watch List None Mid Cap Watch List AEO - Stock is higher by over 1% as it finally moves back above all key technical levels. A close above $22.54 would be very bullish. Small Cap Watch List SCVL - Stock is higher by 2.5% as it finally cleared a key resistance level at $39.88, at least on an Intra day basis. We'll be monitoring closely to see if we need to make any loss of target adjustments and will keep you posted. EXPR - Stock is higher by 2% and needs to clear its 200 day moving average, currently at $8.78, to have any shot at moving closer to our target price of $9.65.
