EB Watch List Update Report

John Hopkins -
Dear Members: Every once in a while the market gets to a point where no one wants to touch stocks. It appears we are at one of those points now with all of the major indexes lower. You can certainly see by looking at the VIX that traders are quite concerned here in spite of this being an historically bullish time of the year. And, in spite of the recent selling, none of the major indexes are close to being technically oversold. The one thing the major indexes do have in common; they are technically damaged with the Dow having lost 1400 points since Monday's high as it fell back below its 50, 20 and 200 day moving averages on Tuesday and continuing much lower today. It is possible that at some point soon traders will begin to nibble on the long side but the risk appetite right now is quite low so the best course of action is to move to the sidelines. The S&P got as low as 2643 this morning so that is now support. If that goes then 2631 comes next and then the October 29 low of 2603 which is very possible unless something develops that puts traders in a buying mood. Bottom line right now is to let things play out and then revisit when signs that the worst of the selling is over.
