EB Watch List Update Report

John Hopkins -
Dear Members: Another abbreviated report during this holiday shortened week as there are no earnings reports coming out between now and the New Year and we have no active trade alerts. We have no active trade alerts as the VIX remains at a heightened level with all rallies at the moment short lived. We saw that again in the first hour of trading this morning where the Dow gave up all of the 200+ points it had gained as traders were happy to take any gains that came their way. What might turn the tide? Would be great to see a big swoosh lower followed by a strong, positive close. That might not represent a long term bottom but it could represent a near term tradeable bottom. But when you are seeing swings like we are right now it makes it very difficult to execute successful trades. One other thing. As we do look at possible oversold stocks for trades we need to lower our sights. In other words, where we might be looking for 5 to 1 reward to risk opportunities it might look more like 2 or 3 to 1. Instead of 10% pops maybe 5-7%. And in all cases we'll need to maintain tight, Intra Day stops. Finally it might make some sense to zero in on some larger cap stocks that had strong earnings and have been swept down with everything else. Stocks like MSFT, MCD, BA, to name a few, as these could be the type of stocks that money managers look at when they start deploying capital. We're keeping our eyes on a number of them and will let you know if any of them get to a level that might be worth taking a shot. Ar your service, John Hopkins EarningsBeats
