EB Watch List Update Report

So far they're getting a bump in the Dow but the NASDAQ and S&P have given up all of their early gains. Even with the market green today the VIX is back in the 20's as traders are back to having at least one finger on the sell button, with yesterday a reminder of how quickly profits can evaporate, especially after the huge run up from the December 24 low. IBM certainly did have a nice showing with the stock higher by over 7% as it made a run at its 200 day moving average for the first time since early October. But so far we've had mixed results in earnings with traders needing more proof that numbers will be better than expected to justify recent gains. Tonight includes earnings from some important tech stocks including Citrix Systems, F Five Networks, Texas Instruments and Xilinx. We did see yesterday how quickly the market can turn on a dime with any bit of important news, volatility at its finest. And its a reminder that you need to be ready to adjust as necessary while keeping stops in place and taking profits when they come along. The good news for the bulls is all of the major indexes managed to hold above key technical levels yesterday which is essential to keep the current rally alive. The 50 day on the S&P is currently at 2619; it got to 2617 yesterday before the bounce. To the upside Monday's high of 2675 is now key resistance. All in all a time to go slow and see what develops as the day progresses.
