EB Watch List Update Report

John Hopkins -
Dear Members: Market Update: A new trading day and week with stocks mixed while traders look for anything that will help them determine where the market might be heading next. The VIX is higher by 4% but so far remains below all key technical levels; no major concerns it seems at the moment. Right now the S&P is pretty much in the middle of a technical range of 2742 to the upside (200 day) and 2671 to the downside (20 day) which could be seen as neutral. But the bulls should be pleased that the selling late last week showed there is still interest in buying on any dips. We'll continue to get plenty of earnings this week but the powerhouse ones are mostly out of the way. Also out of the way; the recent jobs report that beat expectations and the Fed meeting and announcement with more of a Dovish tone. The possibility of another government shutdown continues to loom as Friday's deadline nears. And hopes for a quick resolution to US/China trade talks were dashed some last week. Packaged together it leaves traders feeling OK; not overly bullish but not overly bearish. This could lead to some consolidation in the very near term until one of those key technical levels goes.
