EB Watch List Update Report
Dear Members:
Market Update:
If the bulls are looking for something positive to point to they can point to yesterday's high on the S&P of 2821 which finally cleared the very elusive 2817 level. On the other hand the bears will point to the fact that the bulls were unable to capitalize on that move higher with the market stuck and going nowhere fast. Both could be right as the stalemate continues with stocks lower but not by much. Earlier in the session the VIX moved lower to a level not seen since October 4 of last year. Interestingly the S&P had hit its all time high of 2939 just one day earlier before it began its march lower. Clearly traders are reluctant to put new money to work in this environment; they would like to see the S&P close with some strength above that 2817 level. On the other hand the shorts have been frustrated for almost 3 months now with all pullbacks short lived. We're in a very tight trading range right now of 2821 to the upside and 2800 to the downside with traders waiting to see which one will break. That's not much to work with and thus cash looks quite attractive here.
