EB Watch List Update Report

Dear Members: Market Update: The jobs report this morning was just what the bulls had hoped for, showing February may have been an anomaly with all of the major indexes higher as we near week's end. So far both the Dow and S&P have put in fresh near term highs with the NASDAQ getting close to Wednesday's high of 7938. The S&P is now within easy striking range of 2900, last seen in early October of last year, and really, not far off from its all time high of 2940. The bulls will argue that everything is lined up for higher prices; low interest rates, strong employment picture, strong Q4 earnings, optimistic trade talks. The bears will say all of that has already been taken into consideration. Even further the bears will argue that the market is ignoring any bad news and the possibility of weak earnings for Q1 with all of the major indexes overbought. Both sides make good arguments but right now the market wants nothing to do with the bearish narrative. And current thinking is, even if we do get some type of pullback all it will do is set up some better buying opportunities. We won't have to be wondering about Q1 earnings much longer with some major banks read to release their numbers a week from today. This will mark the beginning of earnings season with thousands of companies ready to report over the next 30+ days. Right now 2900 is key resistance on the S&P with support down near 2830. Some selling would actually be a good thing but try telling that to the bulls. The 20 day moving average is just below $240 so a close above that level would be bullish.
