EB Watch List Update Report

John Hopkins -
Dear Members: Market Update: The market got ahead of itself, at least enough for traders to take some profits off the table with all of the major indexes lower. It's still like pulling teeth to get stock prices lower; the bears have no answers at the moment as traders continue to buy on dips. But the VIX is up by over 4% as it challenges its 20 day moving average, nothing for the bulls to be alarmed about but worth noting. A few stocks worth mentioning that are putting pressure on the Dow and in turn on the market in general include US Steel (X), down over 7%, GE down over 3% and Boeing (BA) down over 1% as its woes continue. So the bulls can point to this small group of stocks causing the morning's disruption. Tomorrow we'll get Fed minutes from the last FOMC meeting, something that could move the market is some way. Then on to the start of earnings season on Friday. Perhaps traders are lightening up some "just in case." However, overall, the market continues to look strong with the bulls remaining on their quest for S&P 2900. The S&P did get within 4 points of that level yesterday so some will argue its close enough. But maybe the bulls won't be satisfied stopping there.
