EB Watch List Update Report
Dear Members:
Market Update
Q1 GDP came out stronger than expected followed by some market selling but as usual not lasting for long. Instead traders are opting to remain long as earnings season progresses. It doesn't hurt to have stocks like Microsoft, Amazon and Facebook leading the charge higher after reporting earnings. And in fact it's encouraging that large tech stocks like Intel, Xilinx and NVIDIA can come up short and get hit hard yet the market holds up just fine. For sure the bulls are determined to see the S&P hit a record high, just like the NASDAQ did yesterday. And given the way the market has performed lately there's a decent chance they will succeed. The knee jerk reaction to the better than expected GDP qualifies as a sell on the news event. But as traders reflect on that positive economic data, along with some very nice earnings and continuing low interest rates, US stocks are being seen as quite favorable. The big number on the S&P remains just above 2940. If the bulls can clear that level then talks of 3000 are sure to follow.
