Market Update
The market got off to a rough start but is well off session lows as we get ready to close out a volatile week. The move off the bottom comes with options expiring today so some increased volatility. And interest on the buy side picked up nicely after the Michigan Consumer confidence survey blew away expectations. Some of the nervousness that existed recently has subsided. The VIX was in the 23's last week; it dropped back in the 14's earlier in the session. And though both the NASDAQ and S&P are having some difficulty moving back above their respective 20 day moving averages they are both well off the lows on the bout of selling we saw earlier in the week. Right now the range on the S&P is 2892 (yesterday's high) to the upside and 2800 to the downside. The 20 day is at 2882 and a close back above that level would give the bulls the technical advantage while a close below could result in some additional selling. Good time to be very selective here.
