Market Update Traders woke up to very red futures with tech stocks in particular under fire as we begin a new trading day and week. What we've seen lately is typical when all of the major indexes are technically challenged, moving from trading consistently above all key technical levels to struggling to stay above. And though the VIX has pulled back meaningful from its recent high it shows traders are still on edge. We're at a period of the year where Q1 earnings season is behind us, negative news is starting to be taken more seriously and traders are looking for reasons to be long. Worth noting is a few days back the 20 day moving average on the Dow moved below its 50 day, generally a bearish development. And a similar pattern is developing on the NASDAQ and S&P. More reasons to proceed here with caution. The recent low on the S&P was right near 2800. The 20 day moving average is at 2877. So this is the current trading range. Bottom line: the bears need to be respected here though a close back above the 20 day could change the narrative. Best to be very selective here.
