EB Watch List Update Report

Dear Members: Market Update: Some of the earlier gains have evaporated as earnings season marches on with traders remaining willing to reward companies with strong results while dumping those stocks that come up short. For sure the bulls remain in control but trying to advance the market higher has become much more challenging since those all time highs were reached. It does lead to the question, exactly what will it take to power the market higher? One possibility would be a strong, collective showing by Alphabet, Amazon, Apple and Facebook, all set to report their numbers this week and who have a combined market cap of over $3 trillion. Also on the mind of traders; what will the Fed do when they meet next week? If they are more aggressive in their rate cutting that could do the trick. But for now stocks are having a hard time advancing with traders starting to wonder if the move off the June 3 low might be coming to an end. Yet the response from the bears has been weak; all of the major indexes remain one solid day away from revisiting those all time highs. We really should have a better of idea where the market might be headed by week's end after all of the heavyweights have reported their numbers. It makes no sense to bet against the market at this moment and traders are likely to continue to be picky about which stocks they are willing to place big bets on.
