Market Update:
The market is getting off to a mixed start as we begin a new trading day and week and just ahead of the Fed interest rate decision on Wednesday. Perhaps traders are sending a signal to the Fed to put on their Dovish caps. This selling comes just after the NASDAQ and S&P put in all time highs; maybe traders are taking advantage of high prices here by locking in profits. The VIX is higher by over 6% but it still remains below all key technical levels while all the major indexes remain above key technical levels. In other words, even with the selling this morning, the bulls are still in charge. We're deep into earnings season and so far so good. How do I know that? Just look at the market; you don't get to all time highs unless earnings are strong. The S&P got as high as 3027 last week so that is now resistance. To the downside the 20 day moving average is just below 2990. We're likely to continue to see increased volatility into the Fed rate decision at which points traders will re-evaluate before making and big bets.
