EB Watch List Update Report

Dear Members: Good morning! Market Update: If you're a trader who thrives on volatility you've got to love what's been going on lately with all of the major indexes up nicely as we close out another trading week. On the other hand, if you are someone who gets dizzy when your stocks get whipsawed it's a good time to be holding some extra cash. Just this week we saw the Dow swing 1,000 points from high to low in 2 days. And the VIX is down by 12% today but its still above all key technical levels; nerves have calmed some but not enough. I do need to point out that today is options expiration day; my thought yesterday that the QQQ's might get back to 185 has played out so far with tons of put premium wiped out. But given the action of late what we're seeing today is by no means an all clear signal. The 50 day on the S&P is still 60 points above where it is now. It's going to take a lot of work for the bulls to climb back above that 2945 level. It is worth noting that the S&P got as low as 2825 yesterday matching the August 2 low and has so far stayed above the most recent low of 2822. It held where it needed to and then bounced. Now we'll see if these early gains hold into the close or if the profit taking we've seen of late will kick in right on cue.
