EB Watch List Update Report

Dear Members: First, please note that I have added a new Behavior Modification Case Study to my blog which you can find under the Members section of our site. MARKET NOTE: On the surface it looks like a going nowhere day but the bulls should be pleased given Shanghai's 6% plunge overnight. The last time the Shanghai got whacked the US market paid the price as well but today that is not the case. Instead we've got both the NASDAQ and S&P at or above all key technical levels with the Dow trying to get back above its 200 day moving average for the first time in almost a month. Housing starts came out stronger than expected today which is helping the home builders and one positive for the overall economy. Tomorrow the Fed will release minutes from its last FOMC meeting. Government bond yields remain contained indicating no surprising news is likely when the minutes are released. For now, at a minimum, the bulls are looking to hold 2095 on the S&P in order to maintain the technical advantage. A close above 2108 would be bullish. KEY EARNINGS REPORTS Companies reporting earnings today (August 18) include: DKS, HD, SINA, TJX, and WMT Companies reporting earnings tomorrow (August 19) include: AEO, EV, HRL, KEYS, LB, LOW, NTAP, SPLS, SNPS, TGT, ADDITIONS TO WATCH LISTS: Just a reminder that we added J2 Global (JCOM)to our Mid Cap Watch List yesterday with a first entry price of $73.32. We are adding today Verisk Analytics (VRSK) to our Large Cap Watch List at the current price (as of email being sent out) of $76.91 with a second entry at $75.20 and a third entry at $73.24 with a price target of $84 and a closing stop of $71.75. BRIEF COMMENTS ON SELECT WATCH LIST STOCKS: Short Watch List: There are no Short Watch List stocks at this time. Large Cap Watch List STJ - Stock is testing its 20 day moving average to the upside. Needs to close above $72.84 to draw more technical buyers. LEN - Stock is having a strong day, up over 3% with strong volume to confirm the breakout. Mid Cap Watch List NUVA - Stock down slightly after hitting $54 earlier in the session and a close above $53.89 would be bullish. Small Cap Watch List KFY - Stock remains strong and a close above $36.14 with increasing volume would be bullish.
