EB Watch List Update Report

John Hopkins -
Dear Members: MARKET NOTE: Since the S&P topped at 2132 a month ago the bulls have struggled to make any progress. That struggle continues today with all of the major indexes lower and with the S&P once again retesting its 200 day moving average. Only the NASDAQ remains well above its 200 day with the Dow having been below its 200 day for almost a month now, not helped by the energy sector which continues to falter as it leads the move lower today. Traders are showing some impatience/concern with the market here with the VIX up 12% as it has climbed back above all key technical levels. Now the market is waiting to see what the Fed minutes say later today though no one at this point is expecting any hint at a near term rate hike. At this point the bulls need to hold 2076 on the S&P or risk the possibility of even more selling. They've done a great job for a long time holding at key levels so we'll want to see if that is the case this time as well. KEY EARNINGS REPORTS Companies reporting earnings today (August 19) include: AEO, EV, HRL, KEYS, LB, LOW, NTAP, SPLS, SNPS, TGT, Companies reporting earnings tomorrow (August 20) include: BRCD, GPS, HPQ, MSG, ROST, CRM, SHLD, TTC, ADDITIONS TO WATCH LISTS: Just a reminder that we added Verisk Analytics (VRSK) to our Large Cap Watch List yesterday at an initial price of $76.91. The chart and all important information have been added to the Watch List section on our site. BRIEF COMMENTS ON SELECT WATCH LIST STOCKS: Short Watch List: There are no Short Watch List stocks at this time. Large Cap Watch List STJ - Stock failed yesterday to get through its 20 day moving average to the upside. A close above $72.71 would be bullish. Mid Cap Watch List JCOM - Stock is down 1.5% today as it tests its 20 day moving average. A hold above $71.79 would be bullish with our second entry at $71.38 on any further selling. Small Cap Watch List RUBI - Stock has had difficulty gaining any momentum after the nice move higher on huge volume when it reported earnings and has hit our third entry price of $14.85. It also has a stop of a close below $14.25 and will come off our Watch List if it closes below that level. It is now showing signs of being technically oversold. DELETIONS FROM OUR WATCH LISTS: There are no deletions from the Watch List today unless a Watch List stock closes below the stop loss provided. At your service, John Hopkins, EarningsBeats
