EB Watch List Update Reort
Dear Members:
First, please note that there is a new Behavior Modification Case Study under my blog on the site. In addition, Tom Bowley will be adding a new article under his blog later today.
MARKET NOTE:
We're into a new trading day and week and at the moment the market is down slightly. This is Fed rate decision week and traders know it and its also options expiration week which traders know as well. Technically, all major indexes remain challenged. Only the NASDAQ is hugging its 20 day moving average but otherwise the major indexes are below all key technical levels. The VIX is up 5% today as it remains elevated relative to earlier in the year when fear was mostly non-existent. So we can see that there's plenty of nervousness ahead of the Fed announcement, warranted or not. The S&P got as low as 1939 on Friday and the most recent high was 1988. So that's the trading range we're in at the moment. It's hard to say what goes first because we remain in "no-man's land"; no one wants to make any big bets here because no one knows how the market will react to the announcement. This is where charts come in and right now, at least technically, the bears have the upper hand. So it makes most sense to lay low here, unlike earlier in the year when any bouts of selling were met by willing buyers. That's not so evident now. In fact, we saw what happened recently when the S&P hit its 20 day moving average; it stopped dead in its tracks, the complete opposite of buying on the dip. It was selling on strength. So we'll stand pat at the moment and address this one day at a time leading up to Thursday's announcement.
