EB Watch List Update Report

Dear Members: MARKET NOTE Here we are once again right in the middle of important technical support near 1910 and near term technical resistance just below 1950. What does one do with something like this? No much. Why? Because both the longs and shorts are challenged alike here. This makes it difficult to profit on either end of the trade. Just look at yesterday. The bears were feeling pretty good earlier in the session with all of the major indexes getting hit hard. By day's end? All of those losses gone, with some gains into the close. This type of repeat action is indicative of a market trying to find direction. The good news for the bulls is yesterday's low of 1891 was much higher than the February 11 low of 1810. Also, by day's end, the 20 day moving average had easily held. So some indication that traders are willing to buy on dips and are looking for reasons to take the market higher. Another positive today is that in spite of oil being lower the S&P is fairly flat. We also saw a better than expected Durable Goods report this morning. But then we've got the VIX back over 20. That seems to be a level that has been tough to get too far away from; the one finger on the sell button level. But the VIX is much lower than it was two weeks ago when it touched 30. All of this leading to the market remaining in no-man's land with the S&P at the same level it was in late August of last year. That's six months of going nowhere fast. So unless the bulls are able to move and close the S&P above the 50 day moving average, now at 1945, or unless the bears are able to move and close the S&P below the 20 day moving average, now at 1910, we'll continue to have a stand off.
