EB Watch List Update Report

John Hopkins -
Dear Members: MARKET NOTE The bulls have now made multiple attempts to clear 2000 on the S&P and so far without success. This includes earlier today when the market was higher on news that the ECB had ramped up their economic stimulus efforts which was initially cheered. Now traders are second guessing if Europe's actions will have any positive impact on US stocks. All of the major indexes are lower with the bulls trying to protect 1979 on the S&P. Thus, we remain in a very narrow range with both the bulls and bears wondering what might come next. It could well be that the market waffles into next week's Fed interest rate announcement to see if any new clues surface. The consensus is no rate increase; it's more about down the road. As long as the narrow trading range we are now in lasts there's really not much to do. Instead, we need to see if Tuesday's close of 1979 holds. If it doesn't then you an expect a trip down to the 20 day moving average, now at 1957. That could possibly present a time to nibble on the long side. If the bulls are able to hold here they will aim for 2020 which could be a possible time to nibble on the short side. All of this to be revisited and analyzed should we get to one of those levels. In the meantime it's a good time to hold on to cash or risk being whipsawed which is never good for the pocketbook.
