EB Watch List Update Report

John Hopkins -
Dear Members: MARKET NOTE Whenever the market gets to an important crossroad it's almost certain a battle will ensue. We are seeing that today with the bears doing their best at keeping the S&P below its 200 day moving average, now at 2019. It's not down by much but when it comes to technical analysis sometime just a point or two can make a big difference. The bears know that if the bulls can hold here and close back above that 200 day that 2038 is the next level of resistance and then the 200 day becomes support. So a lot at stake as we begin a new trading week. This is also a week when the Fed will makes its interest rate announcement on Wednesday. No one expects an increase at this meeting but since the market has firmed up it would not be surprising for the Fed to hint at another increase sometime soon. The good news is the market knows that so it won't be a surprise. This has become more apparent with the ten year treasury note now yielding 1.94% compared to the February 11 low of 1.56%. The VIX is up 4% today, perhaps an acknowledgement that the S&P is at a key juncture here, so one finger remaining on the sell button in case it fails to hold here. Should the selling pick up later today the first line of defense will be 2000 then 1994. In both cases it will be worth watching to see if traders are ready to buy on the dip. KEY EARNINGS REPORTS Companies reporting earnings today (March 14) include: LEN Companies reporting earnings tomorrow (March 15) include: There are no key earnings reports due out tomorrow ADDITIONS TO WATCH LISTS: Please note that we have removed some stocks from the Candidate Tracker and added some fresh ones under both the earnings Beats and earnings Misses sections on the site. These new additions are stocks that either beat or missed earnings expectations and could be good reward to risk trading candidates on the long/short side. Most definitely worth looking at! BRIEF COMMENTS ON SELECT WATCH LIST STOCKS: Large Cap Watch List SHORTS: MDLZ - This stock was added to our short Watch List on Friday with an initial entry price of $42.15 with a price target of $39.50 and a stop loss of a close above $43.10. Today it is lower and a close below $41.67 could put it in a position to move even lower. ROP - This stock hit our second entry today at $175. It has remained stubbornly resilient and is now back above its 200 day moving average and if it remains above would be bullish. So we need to see a close back below $173.04 to put it in a position to move lower. Mid Cap Watch List There are no Mid Cap stocks on the Watch List at this time. Small Cap Watch List There are no Small Cap stocks on the Watch List at this time. DELETIONS FROM OUR WATCH LISTS: There are no deletions from the Watch List today unless a Watch List stock closes below the stop loss provided. At your service, John Hopkins, EarningsBeats
