EB Watch List Update Report

Dear Members: MARKET NOTE: The market is off to a good start with all of the major indexes higher. The VIX is down by 5% and below all key technical levels; all seems to be calm. Some things remain the same; the NASDAQ is the index of choice while the S&P continues to consolidate near its 20 day moving average. So enough interest to keep the market from tanking but not enough to power it forward. Economic reports were mixed today though ISM services easily beat expectations. But the ADP jobs report came up short ahead of the government non-farm payroll report due out Friday. Oil has been strong of late while gold has fallen sharply. In the meantime government bond yields are higher with the ten year treasury bond now yielding over 1.7%. Perhaps some signs that the Fed will raise rates come December. I continue to believe any significant move in the market will come once earnings season gets underway. So within the next few weeks we could get a decent move higher or lower, depending on how traders react to the numbers. The trading range on the S&P is well known by now; 2120 to 2193. It continues to be a stock pickers market rather than trying to make a big score on index ETF's, especially given the consolidating market. KEY EARNINGS REPORTS Companies reporting earnings today (October 5) include: STZ, MON and YUM Companies reporting earnings tomorrow (October 6) include: ISCA ADDITIONS TO WATCH LISTS: DV was added to the Watch List this morning at an entry price of $23.19 with a target of $25.85 and a stop loss of a close below $22.20.
