EB Watch List Update Report
MARKET NOTE:
Dear Members:
Something is catching my attention this morning; the VIX. Just yesterday it looked like it was prepping to break out big time. Instead, traders took a deep breath and today the VIX is back below both its 200 and 20 day moving averages with the 50 day within easy striking range. This is happening as we near month end and into the month of April that is favorable for stocks. In addition, all of the major indexes have held their respective 50 day moving averages with the NASDAQ now back above all key technical levels. In addition, the Dow has been down 8 straight sessions leading into today; a bit much. How about consumer confidence this morning? It hit 125 versus an expected reading of 113. That's quite a beat and reminds traders that things might be picking up even more than they think. The absolute key here is this; can the bulls move the S&P back above its 50 day moving average, now at 2357. I think they are going to give it a decent shot. If they are successful then the worst of the recent selling could be over as the bulls would regain the technical advantage. But as usual things can change quickly so today's close will be important. In any event the bulls know they must hold the 50 day, now at 2333, or face even further selling.
