EB Watch List Update Report

John Hopkins -
Dear Members: MARKET NOTE: We're in one of those periods where no one wants to buy and no one wants to sell. As a result the Dow and S&P are flat while the NASDAQ is lagging. What's frustrating to the bulls is all of the major indexes remain above all key technical levels and the VIX, now back in the 9's, shows no fear. Yet the market remains stuck in the mud. Maybe traders are being cautious during what is typically an historically weak period of the year. Or perhaps they are waiting to see if the looming Health Care bill passes in the Senate. Whatever the case it remains very challenging for either the bulls or the bears to make big scores here, keeping many traders on the sidelines. The S&P got within a point or two of its 20 day moving average this morning before bouncing. Makes perfect sense at the moment. But it also remains well below its recent all time high of 2454, a level that must be cleared in order to generate new excitement. Boring as it seems this is one of those times that it makes most sense to "wait and see" what develops. A close below the 20 day on the S&P, now at 2430, or a move above that 2454 level would at least give traders something to work with.
