EB Watch List Update Report
Dear Members:
MARKET UPDATE
The VIX is a good way to gauge fear in the market. We saw virtually no fear as recent as last week when the VIX was near 9.50. Then just a few days later it was over 17 as traders became very nervous. Now today we're back in the 11's; closer to relaxed then worried but still showing traders know they at least need to be on their toes. The good news for the bulls is all of the major indexes are back above all key technical levels; that's not insignificant. But the S&P is barely above its 20 day moving average and a close below could give the bears something to work with. So not much cushion if things were to turn negative quickly. Keep in mind that the NASDAQ is almost 130 points below its all time high; it's not like the bit of buying we saw the past two days is showing a big appetite for tech stocks. Remember there was a long period of time when every dip was bought aggressively. Now we could be seeing the opposite with traders looking to cash in on any decent bounces. So to me it feels like we're in no-man's land; not so bad out there but not seeing aggressive buying. And remember, whenever the market falls, losses on individual stocks can be much worse that the market as a whole.
