EB Model ETF Portfolio - Draft Selections - Monday, January 20, 2025

In lieu of a scheduled Model ETF Portfolio DRAFT event, I am providing you the upcoming quarter's ETF selections and weighting in this email.  Because the stock market was closed today, I will discuss the themes and process of this quarter's Model ETF Portfolio DRAFT in Tuesday morning's Trading Place LIVE show, which begins promptly at 9:00am ET.  If you're unable to attend tomorrow's TPL show at 9:00am ET, the video will be available on YouTube after the show and at your earliest convenience.

As always, our last quarter's Model ETF Portfolio was closed out as of Friday, January 17th at the closing price.  Our upcoming Model ETF Portfolio will be entered into as of Friday's close as well.  Here are the ETFs included in the next Model ETF Portfolio, which will run from January 19 through April 19 (Friday's closing prices are provided, along with our weighting in each ETF in parenthesis):

     * CGGR (20%):  38.50
     * XLK (15%):  234.11
     * XSMO (15%):  68.68
     * FDN (10%):  249.54
     * MTUM (10%):  217.35
     * QQQ (10%):  521.74
     * XMMO (10%):  129.69
     * IHI (5%):  61.84
     * KRE (5%):  63.07

I wanted to continue to weight some of the portfolio towards both small caps and mid caps.  Hence, the XSMO and XMMO inclusions once again.  Also, both medical devices (IHI) and regional banks (KRE) are among my favorite areas heading into the next quarter, so both were provided direct investments of 5%.  The hope here is that both of these groups will outperform the S&P 500 over the next 90 days.

CGGR has been a very steady performer with its SCTR score at or above 90 for most of the past year and a half.  That was selected as a core holding.  Internet and momentum stocks were also favored with 10% holdings.
