EarningsBeats.com Digest for July 19
Dear EarningsBeats Community Member:
Earnings Season Heats Up!
It's early in the earnings season and so far we've seen mixed results with those companies beating expectations and guiding higher being rewarded while those coming up short are seeing the wrath of the market. Two examples include IBM which reported earnings after the bell on Wednesday with the stock moving higher by 4.6% and on the opposite side of the ledger Netflix, coming up short and with the stock shedding over 10%. This really is the way it should work. But we've just seen the tip of the iceberg here with a ton of companies set to report next week including some big tech heavyweights. So we should have a very good idea of how traders feel about overall earnings by the time we get to the end of next week.
Q2 Earnings Webinar
Speaking of earnings, we've got our highly popular "Q2 Earnings Season" webinar scheduled for Monday, July 29, 4:30 PM eastern. During this webinar I will be joined by Tom Bowley, Senior Technical Analyst, StockCharts.com, as we zero in on stocks that have already reported their earnings and beat expectations and could be high reward to risk trading candidates. We'll also look at some stocks that will be reporting earnings in the near future that could move higher once their numbers are released, much like I did when I made the case for two stocks in my ChartWatchers article last weekend, both which turned out quite well. If you want to learn more about this event as well as our current annual special that will include our "Top10 Picks" webinar in August (another must attend event) just respond to this email with "Tell me More" and I will get back to you.
That's it for this week! We'll be back Monday morning with the next EarningsBeats Digest.
At your service,
John Hopkins
