EB Daily Market Report - Brief Update - Wednesday, December 24, 2025
Good afternoon!
On this holiday-shortened session, our major indices are all higher and all 11 sectors are up as well. This is typical stock market behavior leading up to the Christmas holiday and it usually carries over to the week between Christmas and New Year's.
Volume, as is normally the case on Christmas Eve, is very light as many traders begin their vacations, with many in travel mode. There isn't really much to report, but it's certainly worth mentioning that the Volatility Index ($VIX) has moved to another 52-week low, currently at 13.45, which represents another drop today of 3.86%. It doesn't have much of a long-term implication, but the crumbling VIX does provide the bulls an opportunity to run the benchmark S&P 500 up to or close to 7000 by year end. At last check, the SPX was at 6936, just 1% away from hitting this milestone for the first time in history.
My target for the S&P 500, called back on the first Saturday of January 2025, is 7000 and it certainly appears as if we might get there. Please keep in mind that our next MarketVision event is slated for Saturday, January 3, 2026, at 10:00am ET. Mark your calendar and hopefully I'll see you there!
This is a great time to tell everyone how thankful we are for your support. It's been a wild 21-year ride for EarningsBeats.com and we're grateful each and every day for all of our members.
Merry Christmas/Happy Holidays to all!
Tom
