- MercadoLibre Inc (MELI)
Target here is 147.00 and today's high was 145.99. That's not far from our target after a nice run higher from our initial entry point at 133.00....keep reading
- Watch These Two Areas In Small Caps
Small caps had quite the day on Friday, surging more than 4%. It was only the second time in the last three years that the S&P 500 Small Cap Index ($SML) had gained more than 4% in a single trading day. When I review leadership in any area, I like to visualize it on the RRG chart (Relative Rotation Graph). For small caps, I also like to use the Principal U.S. Small Cap Index and Sector ETFs. I use the PSC as the benchmark index ETF and all of the PSC sector ETFs as rotation around that benchmark. Check out the small cap sector ETFs - I think you'll quickly see the leader:...keep reading
- On The Threshold Of A Breakout, But Not Good Enough
You can't just threaten to make a breakout, you actually have to make the breakout. With Pinterest, inc. (PINS), it's the actual breakout that we need to see. Internet stocks ($DJUSNS) have been both absolute and relative laggards, but stocks like PINS are beginning to show some relative strength amongst industry peers. I just wouldn't be ready to follow stocks like PINS until it at least makes a key price breakout. Check out the chart here:...keep reading
- Salesforce.com Inc (CRM)
With negative divergence, perhaps we'll see an upcoming 50 day SMA test. Just watching for now....keep reading
- The Steadiest of the Steady is Falling
I have, on many occasions, called AJ Gallagher (AJG) one of the steadiest growers and stocks on the planet. The stock has been mostly unflappable. It's been rare to see even a 10% pullback since the financial crisis, with its uptrend remaining intact nearly throughout the past 16 years since that crisis....keep reading
- Software Remains Weak Relatively Speaking
On Tuesday, the S&P 500 finally closed above its 50-day SMA. It was the first time in nearly 3 months and sets the stage for higher prices ahead. Key price resistance from early June resides just beneath 4200, so there's still roughly an additional 6-7% potential rise to reach that level....keep reading
- Our Short Squeeze ChartList (SSCL) Is On FIRE!
The S&P 500 is currently up 6.02% in 2023, but our average short squeeze stock is up 37.61%, more than 6 times the S&P 500! That's the AVERAGE. One stock is up 365%. Another is up 201.96%. 7 are up 50% or more. In all, 34 of the 42 stocks on our Short Squeeze ChartList (SSCL) are up more than the S&P 500. In other words, you could have selected a stock from this SSCL by throwing a dart and you likely would have significantly outperformed. During our LIVE trading session with members on Friday, we saw volume exploding around noon on Beyond Meat, Inc. (BYND) and we bought it. While BYND fell back later in the afternoon, it gained roughly 15% in less than an hour after we bought it, setting up very quick profit opportunities for members. Check out the chart:...keep reading
- Priceline.com Inc (PCLN)
Solid volume today as it clears its previous high and moves towards our target of 1125.00....keep reading
- Leader In Computer Services Shows Mixed Signals
Computer services ($DJUSDV) recently set a 52-week relative high vs. the S&P 500 and one of its strongest stocks has been Science Applications International Corp (SAIC), which has risen more than 25% in the past two months, while the S&P 500 has been up less than half that. SAIC recently posted solid quarterly results and raised its guidance for next quarter. The good news is that the stock has returned back to where it was prior to that earnings release, or has "filled its gap." Check this out:...keep reading
- When Value Stocks Might Make Sense
Growth stocks have had a very big run heading into the upcoming earnings season and we've recently seen a bit of consolidation/selling among these stocks - and it might just continue. Semiconductors ($DJUSSW) have held up well and continue to push to the upside, but software ($DJUSSW) and internet ($DJUSNS) have both seen some profit taking recently....keep reading

- Time For Some Market Maker Magic?
I always find monthly options expiration week to be one of most amazing experiences of stock market trading. Retail traders unknowingly follow each other down a rat hole during both uptrends (buying calls) and downtrends (buying puts). Then we reach the day of reckoning (options-expiration Friday) when market makers have a TON of potential profit at stake. When traders buy puts during downtrends, it's quite likely that market makers sell those puts and then short the equivalent number of shares to protect against price deterioration....keep reading
- The Stock Market Has Changed Course And So Should We
Last Thursday and Friday provided us a glimpse of what the next several months could look like. Early this year, I expected that the stock market would unravel, but then rally back late in the year as lower interest rates spurred growth stocks after 9-10 months of relative devastation. Below is a chart that highlights key support levels of the 10-year treasury yield ($TNX), along with the relative performance of several key growth vs. value ratios:...keep reading
- Not Everything Goes According To Plan
If you've been around the stock market for a long period of time, then I'm sure you can agree with this. Nearly a year ago, I made a really good call, expecting significant challenges in 2022, and even suggesting that we could see a low on the S&P 500 in the 3500-3800 range - on a worst case basis. Well, after moving slightly below 3500 in October, interest rates began to drop rapidly, falling from 4.33% on the 10-year treasury yield ($TNX) to 3.41%. That was another solid call. But my calls weren't perfect. With this drop in the TNX, I was expecting a big market rally led by growth stocks. Yet here we are, on December 21st with just ten days remaining in 2022, and I'm still waiting for growth stocks to truly launch - especially the large cap growth names....keep reading
- Here's Your Winner In The War On Sodas
There's long been a debate between whether Coke or Pepsi tastes better. And while I suppose that comes down to everyone's individual taste, Wall Street seems to believe that Pepsi's stock tastes better. Over the past decade, not only has PepsiCo, Inc. (PEP) performed well, more than tripling in price, but it's been steadily outperforming its biggest soft drink competitor, Coca Cola Co (KO):...keep reading

- When Eight Is Enough
In most instances, price support is only as good as the number of times it's been tested. If a company pulls back and prints a low, then retests that low a couple weeks later, we consider it price support, but many times I'll look for other corroborating technical evidence before placing a buy order. I feel much better, however, about price support if it's been tested multiple times. With that in mind, let's look at the 2-year daily chart of QUALCOMM Inc. (QCOM):...keep reading
- September Can Be A Bad Month, But...
There is no denying the rally off the June low. It's been extremely quick and very impressive. Every sector has participated to some degree and most industries have been able to reclaim their now-rising 20-day EMAs. It's certainly caught most bears by surprise....keep reading
- Ascena Retail Group Inc (ASNA)
Approaching its rising 20 day EMA. 2nd entry at 19.15 only about 1.5% away....keep reading
- Maximize Your Reward-To-Risk Strategy
Most traders are overly concerned about winning with every trade, rather than setting up clear reward-to-risk strategies that reward consistency. It's similar to the story about the tortoise and the hare. Sure, it's great to win on every trade as your trading account would obviously balloon. But, sometimes, that desire to win on every trade clouds the ability to sell stocks that simply aren't working. I've always said that you should know your target and exit plan for every trade - before you place it! I think American Express (AXP) is a stock that sets up really well right now from a reward to risk approach:...keep reading
